"We were all in the safety briefing together", he said of the passengers on the accident flight. He says it looks like they deployed, but possibly not all of them until after the crash.

The pilot has told investigators that he suspects a bag owned by one of the passengers may have switched an emergency shutoff valve for fuel to the engines, CNN and ABC News reported. The official was briefed on the investigation but was not authorized to speak publicly about it and spoke Monday on condition of anonymity.

Five people were killed Sunday when a private helicopter crashed into the East River in New York City after an engine failure.

Sunday's crash killed all five passengers.

The helicopter, a Eurocopter AS350, crashed into the water around 7.06pm on Sunday near East 90th Street and Roosevelt Island, in the waters just off of Gracie Mansion.

A video posted to Twitter showed the helicopter crashing down in the water, tipping over on its side as the rotors hit the water.

"It took a while for the divers to get these people out".

The FAA hasn't commented on Schumer's suggestion.

At least two of the passengers were dead when rescue divers got to the scene, officials said.

He had been working as a video journalist for Business Insider in NY since October.

The company referred inquiries to authorities, saying it was focused on the victims' families and the investigation.

Robb says the NTSB would then release a preliminary report, and a probable-cause accident report would follow detailing what happened during the crash.

Philips Hue Reveals Pricing, Details for New Outdoor Light Line-Up
The entire outdoor line-up is supposed to be "easy to install" and is based on a plug and play system that works with the Hue app. Back in January , Philips Hue announced it was working on outdoor smart lights ideally suited for patios, gardens, or balconies.

As the aircraft foundered, the pilot was heard on an emergency radio transmission calling: "Mayday, mayday, mayday".

In 2011, a helicopter carrying a veteran pilot and four tourists crashed into the East River, killing three tourists.

The coroner's office said the deaths were accidental in the cases of Daniel Thompson, 34, Tristan Hill, 29, Trevor Cadigan, 26, Brian McDaniel, 26, and Carla Vallejos Blanco, 29.

Despite the efforts of divers to free the people in hard currents and very cold water, two passengers died at the scene and three died later in hospital.

Brian McDaniel was a fire rescue officer for Dallas Fire-Rescue who had been hired in May 2016, the department said in a statement.

Eric Adams, from western Pennsylvania, was some of the last people to see the victims of the doomed helicopter flight alive. Investigators said the helicopter was flying too high.

The charter service, Liberty Helicopters, has been involved in two other high-profile crashes in NY.

The National Transportation Safety Board was headed to New York Monday trying to determine the cause of the crash.

Vance freed himself from the wreckage and was later discharged from a hospital.

The five passengers were all strapped into the aircraft with special harnesses that allowed them to lean out of the helicopter doors to take pictures. The company offers both private charters and sightseeing tours for tourists.

Liberty Helicopters employees did not respond to phone calls and emails requesting comment and several people gathered at their Kearny office after midnight Monday refused to answer questions when confronted by reporters.
