India and France space cooperation is more than five- decades-old. He said that "we value these investments and would encourage France to associate with our flagship initiatives such as Make in India, Skill India and Digital India".

As "leaders of two strong democracies with vital interests" in the Indian Ocean Region, French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid emphasis on the multi-dimensional India-France strategic partnership and said both sides will play key role in ensuring peace, security and stability in the region. The deals include a contract for France's Safran to supply airline Spice Jet with engines, water system modernisation by Suez in the southern city of Davangere and a contract between industrial gas company Air Liquide and Sterlite.

French President Emmanuel Macron reached India for a four-day bilateral visit on Friday along with his wife Brigitte Marie-Claude Macron and his senior cabinet ministers.

President Macron will "spend a lot of time with Prime Minister Narendra Modi", reports quoted a source in the French presidency as saying, adding that the two leaders had "formed a close relationship" during President Macron's first nine months in power.

The President said that India commends France's efforts in the global fight against climate change.

French state-run reactor maker Areva SA signed an initial agreement in 2009 with Nuclear Power for the Jaitapur project following a civil nuclear cooperation accord between the governments. France congratulates India on its leadership at lORA and the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS).

The ministry said enough central and state forces were available at the disposal of the state government to tackle the situation. This came a day after a statue of the Communist icon was demolished by a bulldozer at Belonia College Square in a Tripura town.

France is the ninth-largest foreign investor in India. Macron arrived in India on Friday night.

French President Macron and Prime Minister Modi will also visit Varanasi, where a group of local youths and some French nationals have formed a club to work towards improving man-to-man contact between the people of the two countries.

Macron added that India and France have chose to work together to deal with threats of terrorism and radicalisation.

Marking the 20th anniversary of their strategic partnership, India and France stepped up their engagement to a new level by quietly and swiftly concluding the reciprocal logistics support between their Armed Forces. "I think our countries have a very good chemistry".

He will also co-chair the founding conference of the International Solar Alliance (ISA). It is open to all 121 prospective member countries falling between the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.

Till Thursday, 60 countries had signed the framework agreement of the ISA and another 30 submitted the instruments of ratification.
