"This is a tall order but I am confident that if we all work together, if all the partners combine together and we ensure full treatment is given on regular basis we can show the world this can be achieved".

"In the spirit of this year's World Tuberculosis Day theme of "Wanted: Leaders for a TB-free world" I urge citizens and organisations to take the lead in the movement to end TB".

He added, "Government of India is working in mission mode to make India TB-free". The duo previously confronted the claims with a rare joint appearance in a public demonstration of their "rock-hard" relationship. Their difficulties, he goes on to say, is nothing different than the struggles that most people in a relationship go through.

On March 24, 1882, Dr. Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacteria that causes tuberculosis and thus paved the way to the diagnosis and cure of that disease. The discovery opened the way toward diagnosing and curing tuberculosis. TB is the primary cause of death for individuals co-infected with HIV. The emergence of multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) poses a major health security threat and could risk gains made in the fight against TB.

The World TB Day is observed to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis and to step up efforts to end the global epidemic. He said complete elimination of TB, along with best facilities of treatment, is included in governmental priorities.
