With Aaron Ramsey also weighing in with a couple of goals, the Gunners seem on course to secure a last-four spot when they travel to Russian Federation for the return leg next week.

During the January transfer window, the Gunners signed Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund and it has been generally perceived that the Gabon global will be first choice in Arsene Wenger's starting lineup. Alexander Lacazette had stepped forward to tuck in the resultant penalty, his second within a week after scoring one against Stoke City last weekend.

Asked if fans had seen the best of him, Lacazette replied: "Not yet, because I know I can do more".

"The surgery is behind me so now I can play 100 per cent".

'It was really frustrating but now I don't regret it.

Not only does the Europa League offer a route into next season's Champions League, but Lacazette feels that winning the competition would give him a better chance of going to the World Cup.

The figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) follow a record breaking March 2017. However, demand for alternative fuel vehicles grew by 20 per cent.

It would also hold extra significance for Lacazette, with the final taking place at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on May 16.

"I wish Arsène Wenger the victory, because he deserved it for all he did for Arsenal and football in general over the years". "It would maybe be the best day in my life so that is why I want".

Alexandre Lacazette joined the club in the summer before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did the same in January, and now the two are copying one another from the penalty spot.

"He is a great guy, really nice with everybody and for me it was good for my confidence", he said.

Nice coach Lucien Favre has been added to the shortlist of candidates who Arsenal could approach if they seek to replace Arsene Wenger at the end of the season. It shows that, even if we are strikers, we can think about everyone in the team and we are not focused only to score goals'.
