Officer Gannon and two other officers were trying to serve 29-year-old Thomas Latanowich with an arrest warrant on Thursday afternoon, when Gannon was shot in the attic during a sweep of the Barnstable home. He is being arraigned Friday in Barnstable District Court on a charge of murder. Gannon was shot in the head during that interaction.

A police officer from Los Angeles posted: "The news of Officer Gannon's death has reached the west coast and I have made it a point to discuss his sacrifice with my colleagues at work". He was married with no children.

Nero is a 28-month-old Belgian Malinois certified in tracking, criminal apprehension, evidence recovery, crowd control and handler protection, according to a statement the Yarmouth police issued when the dog joined the department a year ago.

Guardiola: Man Utd can still win the title
We handled the pressure between the good and bad moments for the entire season, not just in this period. If we are not able to in the end and United win the league then all we can says is "congratulations".

"Those kinds of questions are appropriately asked and examined whenever there is a tragedy like this, and we will review those things", O'Keefe said.

Support for the officer is pouring in from all over the country on the Yarmouth Police Department's Facebook page.

Latanowich is expected back in court in June.
