"A period of light to occasionally moderate snow should overspread our area from southwest to northeast rather quickly early Friday morning", the National Weather Service's Binghamton office said.

"There's a very active pattern" of unsettled weather, according to Peter Wichrowski, National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton.

Fortunately, Sunday still looks good. There have been many reports this afternoon of wet snow, sleet pellets - while this seems like a cold reminder of winter weather, it will not amount to any icing or snow accumulation on paved surfaces. The expected snowfall from Mount Holly is now in the 2-to-4 inch range, and meteorologists say plenty of factors will work against big accumulations for this event. As temperatures drop into the 30s overnight, some snow could mix in. The April Fool's Day Storm, as it became known, entered the record books as the largest April snowfall for Baltimore.

The forecast calls for four to six inches of rain between Thursday night and Saturday morning and the deluge could be heavy at times.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms are likely before 1 p.m. Wednesday, and rain showers are likely between 1 and 4 p.m.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 50. Mostly cloudy with a low around 52.
