The government had said that the prime properties belonged to Dawood, though his mother and sister were in possession.

The SC on Friday dismissed a plea by fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim's mother Ameena Bi Kaskar and sister Haseena Parkar challenging attachment of their properties in Mumbai by the government. In the year 1988, the government sealed his properties under a law - the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, that allows to take over the properties.

The fugitive don's mother and sister had a total of seven residential properties - worth crores of rupees, in their names which was allegedly bought using the ill-gained wealth.

Amina Bi and Parkar challenged the notices, saying they had not been duly served and hence the subsequent proceedings to attach their properties in Nagpada in south Mumbai be stayed.
