You can also say "Alexa, broadcast", and again, tack on your voice message at the end.

You can already call another Echo device using a feature called Drop In; the Announcements capability announced today is just for one-way blasts.

Echo users can now broadcast their voice from one device to all the others in their home.

Amazon announced it's expanding hands-free mode to Alexa voice assistant on the Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 tablets.

For the Amazon devices, a short chime sounds indicating there is an incoming announcement.

Amazon believes that "millions of customers" use multiple Echo speakers in their homes.

Alexa Announcements began rolling out in the United States and Canada this Thursday, so if you can't get the feature to work quite yet, just be patient. Alexa can be used to lock the door, ask for lock status and view the live feed from Cloud Cam on compatible devices like Fire TV, Echo Spot, and Echo Show.

Google unveiled similar functionality in its Google Home product in November, activated by the phrase "OK Google, broadcast..." Since Amazon is now offering some Amazon Key features across the USA, it's probably only a matter of time before the company expands in-home deliveries to more cities as well.

Amazon Key commenced late past year in selective markets as a combination of features next to in-home delivery for Prime members.
