Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's relative Vinay Bansal was arrested by the Anti Corruption Branch on Thursday, April 10. The accused Vinay Bansal has been identified as Arvind Kejriwal's brother-in-law Surender Bansal's son.

Bansal was arrested from his residence in Pitampura in west Delhi in the morning, after he failed to give satisfactory replies on firm Mahadeo Impacts, Special Commissioner of Police and ACB chief Arvind Deep informed.

It was also alleged that the bills sent to the Public Works Department (PWD) for unfinished works were "false and fabricated".

The ACB registered the case in 2017 against the company Renu Constructions and named Mr. Vinay Bansal's father Surender Bansal and others involved in the company's operations. The complainant had claimed that even the bid and its technical marks were manipulated.

The ACB officials said they have found records, agreements, acceptance of measurements, bills, etc, signed by Mr Bansal and there was also correspondences like request of approval of drawings that had his signature.

Three FIRs had been filed by the ACB in connection with the alleged scam exactly a year ago.

The ACB falls under the Delhi government's vigilance department.

"This is part of the chain of arrests against AAP MLAs", Sisodia said, adding this will be exposed in the court. "The CPWD in their probe found lapses in their project and also in their materials", said a news report in The Indian Express.
