Fifth and sixth-placed Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals go head to head in match 47 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, they need to continue to register wins if they are to make the playoffs and the same holds true for their opponents Rajasthan Royals, who are at 6th place with the same number of wins as MI. With 12 points, Royals leapfrogged Mumbai to the fifth in the Indian Premier League standings. However, a win here would help the cause of both the teams immensely. MI and RR were languishing at the bottom, but have turned the tides and lit up the tournament with spectacular coming-from-behind victories. Runs are also expected from Ishan Kishan and all-rounders Hardik Pandya and his brother Krunal. Having registered two back-to-back wins against Punjab CSK and Punjab, thanks to two fantastic knocks of 82 and 95 not out from English wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler. He hit nine fours and five sixes.

Mumbai looked to be cruising to a big total as they reached 86/0 in just 10 overs.

Hardik Pandy took two wickets for Mumbai but was very expensive, conceding 52 runs in his four overs. The batsman from Bihar is winning hearts with his astonishing form. Suryakumar Yadav has been in the form of his life and giving MI a solid start time and again but he needs support from Lewis. Somewhere down the line over a period of time, Mumbai Indians have played their best cricket when they have been down and out. After winning only 2 of the 8 matches, they have completely turned around the scene, they have changed their fate from a situation when they were on the brink of elimination.
