Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty returned to baseball on Tuesday after time off to mourn the loss of his mother.

Piscotty missed four games while on the bereavement list to be with his family, who gathered in Pleasanton, Calif., on Monday for a celebration of Gretchen's life.

Gretchen Piscotty died May 6 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
