The USC Softball team set a goal at the beginning of the year to host a NCAA Regional. The Crimson Tide was awarded the No. 12 overall seed when the 64-team field was announced Sunday night. The Irish are 5-8 in the past 13 games, while the Wolverines have lost four of their past eight games, including a 7-0 loss to Michigan State in a Big Ten quarterfinal on Friday.

Carolina will welcome UNCG, Liberty and Hofstra to the regional this season. California and Oregon State will be traveling for the regionals, going to Athens, Georgia and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, respectively. UCLA and Arizona are lined up to meet if both advance from the opening weekend, as would Washington and Oregon State if each survived the first regional.

The No. 11 LSU Tigers softball team will start its campaign for a fourth straight Women's College World Series appearance at home in Tiger Park on Friday May, 18.
