The Indian smartphone market is a strong platform for companies to grow. Redmi Y1 was launched in India in November at a starting price of Rs 8,999 for the 32GB variant, while the 4GB RAM version was priced at Rs 10,999. Xiaomi has launched a teaser of the new Redmi handset across social media channels and are expecting to get positive response from gadget lovers in the country. Rumors have it that two smartphones namely, Xiaomi Mi 7 and Xiaomi's 8 Anniversary Edition smartphone by the end of this month. It is expected that Mi will launch the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi S2 in India as Redmi Y2. It was the fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer by market share in China a year ago, according to Counterpoint.

While there is no confirmation, the device in the teaser image looks quite similar to the Redmi S2. This could be launched as the Redmi Y2 in India. Xiaomi and JioPhone continued to retain their No 1 positions in smartphones and feature phones, respectively, in the January-March quarter, with Samsung tailing both at No 2.

As this is a new series smartphone, so the company may take some time to launch the phone Xiaomi Redmi S2 in India but it will not take so much time. It comes with AI portrait mode and AI beautification. Apart from eliminating the aspect ratio of 18: 9, the screen size extends to 74.5% of body ratio. Based on what we know so far, the Mi 7 will sport a dual rear camera setup with a pair of 16-megapixel sensors with f/1.7 aperture and 4-axis OIS.
