It paid off for them in a big way, as it's how they discovered Beavis And Butt-head, but it also worked with Peter Chung's Aeon Flux. This series is just the latest MTV show from the past to be revived for a reboot, with the network now developing revivals of Jersey Shore, Yo MTV Raps, Total Request Live and The Real World.

It will be interesting to see if Aeon Flux can (finally) work in a live-action capacity, especially with the 2005 dud of a movie serving ignominiously as the only attempt.

No, Charlize Theron's not returning as Aeon Flux. Hurd produced the 2005 feature film, but was not involved with the original animated series.

Jeff Davis, the showrunner of MTV's Teen Wolf, is attached to write the series' script and will executive produce alongside Gale Anne Hurd.

Trudeau's criticism will cost Canada 'a lot of money'
President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau engaged in a war of words after the G7 summit . "I really did. Other than he had a news conference that he had cause he assumed I was in an airplane and I wasn't watching".

Hey, do you remember Aeon Flux? It is set in a future dystopian state and revolves around a young assassin who teams with a group of biohacking rebels to save humanity as she becomes the hero known as Aeon Flux. Sources told THR that MTV is preparing to launch a studio that will further monetize its library as part of Viacom's push to revitalize its cable brands.

The outlet reports that the series will take cues from the animated show. In 1995, a season of ten half-hour episodes aired as a stand-alone series. As for the live-action movie, well, it wasn't quite the hit some were hoping for.

The less said about the feature film Aeon Flux, the better. Though the film bombed hard at the box office and got roasted like chestnuts over an open fire by critics, MTV tapping Hurd to help usher the property to the small screen might be a wise choice, as she can likely use her insider knowledge of what went wrong to prevent the live-action series from suffering the same fate. That film, which also starred Frances McDormand as Handler, Jonny Lee Miller as Oren Goodchild and Sophie Okenedo as Sithandra, earned just $25.8 million domestically and $52.3 million worldwide, from a $62 million budget.

The live-action TV series looks to follow similar plot details.
