Dustin Johnson surged his way back to being the world's best, sinking an eagle from 155 metres out on the final hole at the St. Jude Classic in Memphis.

That's the ideal way to cap off a win.

The 33-year-old sealed his win in emphatic style, holing out for a sensational eagle two on the 18th to roars from the gallery.

Sunday's victory was the 18th PGA Tour win of Johnson's career, and his first since a triumph at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii in January. The first couple of holes were a little rough, but overall, I had a great time.

Shane Lowry ended the tournament three shots further back as he closed with a 70, while Padraig Harrington shot 71 and finished tied 56th on two-over.

It's no surprise that he enters the U.S. Open as the favorite.

"It was nice to be back in the hunt, to have the lead, to play and get the juices flowing again", Johnson said.

Nobody has ever won on the PGA Tour and followed by winning the U.S. Open.

"I know what it takes", Johnson said.

What really separates Johnson from his peers is the growing list of Ruthian feats akin to Sunday's walk-off eagle.

"I'm driving it well, I'm really hitting my irons well, my wedges are really good, so I'm really looking forward to going into next week".

Johnson is tied with Tiger Woods for most wins on Tour since 2008 and has racked up nine victories over the past three years alone.
