A few people are heading to the International Space Station Friday morning.
"The hatches are open and the crew has moved to the ISS, cosmonauts are feeling well", the Flight Control Center said. It is carrying Serena Aunon-Chancellor of the United States, Sergey Prokopyev of Russian Federation and German Alexander Gerst, flying for the European Space Agency. The three astronauts that make up Expedition 56 are Sergey Prokopyev of Roscosmos, Serena Aunon-Chancellor of NASA and Alexander Gerst of the European Space Agency.
NASA has launched its new Expedition 56-57 mission to the ISS. NASA says the arrival of this new crew helps aid its "long-term increase in crew size on the USA segment from three to four, allowing NASA to maximize time dedicated to research on the space station".

They joined current crew members - Americans Drew Feustel and Richard Arnold and Russian Oleg Artemyev - who have been in space since March. If you're on the ground then you can only see the rocket take off, if you're on the International Space Station then you can only see the payload arrive, and if you're inside the rocket then you have a bad view of the whole thing.
The new space expedition's crew will stay for 187 days aboard the orbital outpost.
The Soyuz-FG carrier rocket with the manned Soyuz MS-09 spacecraft blasted off from the Baikonur spaceport in Kazakhstan at 14:12 Moscow time on Wednesday.
