"'With so much bonding time at Meghan and the Queen's disposal, what will the new royal and head of the monarchy talk about?" the tabloid speculated.

Although she did not take the top spot, according to a palace source, the order of appearance on the balcony is not a hard-and-fast rule, but rather, a matter of etiquette and deference.

"She was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there's a pecking order", Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine, explained to People.

While Harry's brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, embarked on a 10-day honeymoon to the Seychelles following their 2011 wedding, Meghan and her prince reportedly took two full weeks for their romantic and adventurous trip to Africa.

This means the monarch will always be in the middle, with the first and second in line to the throne - in this case, Prince Charles and Prince William - and their spouses and children grouped around her.

Previous year a court ruled that the French edition of the gossip magazine Closer should pay Kate Middleton and Prince William £92,000 (about $122,000) in damages as punishment for publishing paparazzi images of the duchess sunbathing tοpless in 2012.

While at the ceremony, Meghan could be seen standing on the balcony with the rest of the family. Her co-star Sarah Rafferty - who plays Donna on the show and was also spotted at Markle's royal wedding - was also submitted for consideration in the same category.
