His nickname is "Money" so it comes as no surprise that Floyd Mayweather has topped the Forbes annual list of the world's 100 highest-paid athletes. The former UFC champ checks in at number four on the list with a salary of $85 million for the year and endorsements totaling $14 million.

Kohli was 89th on last year's list with estimated earnings of US$22m.

The "world's highest-paid athletes 2018" list is topped by 41-year-old Mayweather Jr., with $285 million earnings. He is earning through salary and winnings was $4m while brand endorsements earned him $20m.

The list does not exclusively take into account an athletes salary or prize winnings but also includes endorsement deals and advertising. Mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor and Brazilian footballer Neymar complete the top-5 list.Interestingly, the top-100 paid athletes are all men and there is not a single woman on the list.

Others on the list are tennis star Roger Federer (7), golfer Tiger Woods (16), tennis player Rafael Nadal (20) and golfer Rory McIlroy (26).

Liverpool deal to sign Nabil Fekir collapses as Lyon end negotiations
Lyon have claimed Nabil Fekir's move to Liverpool is off . "There is something logical, it has already been done for others". He came on in the second half of that game, which was at Lyon's home ground, to a great reception from the home fans.

If it wasn't already clear there is a gender wage gap in sports, Forbes' latest report on the world's highest-paid athletes shouts it from the newsstands.

Kurt Badenhausen, Forbes' senior editor, told CNN Sport that on endorsements alone Williams would be ranked in the top 10.

Tennis star Serena Williams, who previous year was the only woman to feature on the list at 51st place with earnings of $36 million, dropped out of the rankings after taking a break from the sport due to the birth of her daughter.

In the top 100 list the National Football League had 18 athletes, 14 were baseball players and nine were footballers. "He also has a residency deal with the Wynn Las Vegas for all of his afterparties, and his digital properties, Conor McGregor FAST Program, MacMoji App, MacTalk App and the Mac Life, also generate cash".
