Police said they are working on identifying all of those injured in the shooting, adding that one had been hospitalised.

Early reports indicate that four people have been shot. Investigators suggest that automatic weapons were used, and are searching for a dark auto that was seen leaving the scene at high speed, Aftonbladet reports.

The shots caused bystanders to scream but police quickly said there was no reason for the public to worry.

While Sweden has relatively low levels of crime, neighbourhoods in Malmo, Stockholm and Gothenburg have seen a rise in violence attributed to gangs fighting over drug trafficking and prostitution.
