Rahul Gandhi to be welcomed by 1000 Rickshawalas in Mumbai

He is scheduled to appear before a court in Thane district's Bhiwandi area at 11 am in connection with a defamation case a worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh had filed against him. The court said that on June 12 it would pass an order on the application and would also record the defendant Rahul Gandhi's plea, and asked him to remain present on that day. In opposition former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi played host until the party chose to skip the event in 2016 and 2017.

"Today, our nation has become slave to two-three leaders of the BJP and the RSS".

He alleged that everyone, including MPs in the BJP, were afraid to speak out as they were not allowed to speak.

This will be Gandhi's first public engagement in Mumbai after taking over as Congress President in December 2017.

Gandhi alleged that the Modi government had ignored the interests of farmers but helped a small group of industrialists by waiving loans amounting to almost Rs2.5 trillion. "Rs 2.5 lakh crore were given to 15 industrialists".
