Police say Redmond James O'Neal, the son of actors Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, is responsible for a "violent crime spree" last month that left several people injured in Los Angeles. Redmond is charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Robbery detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Area investigated the series of crimes that occurred in the Venice Beach and Palms neighborhoods from May 2 to May 5. In another, a surveillance camera caught someone who looked like O'Neal leaving the area where a victim received "significant and serious stab wounds and cuts to his face, neck, and upper body" on May 4, per police.

O'Neal also is facing other charges for the May 8 incident, including felony assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a smoking device, possession of an injection/ingestion device and two counts of possessing a controlled substance, meth and heroin.

Redmond has been in jail since the 7-11 incident, his next hearing is scheduled for July.

Farrah Fawcett's son Redmond O'Neal has reportedly been linked to a vicious "crime spree" that includes the stabbing of a man on May 4. Two stabbings, one near the Venice Beach Boardwalk, including one that left a victim in a pool of his own blood with wounds to his head. When police were called, they found drugs and drug paraphernalia on O'Neal as well, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. O'Neal pleaded not guilty to all of these charges.

O'Neal has made headlines over the years, mostly for his reported struggle with drug addiction.

Fawcett, a former star of TV's "Charlie's Angels", died of cancer at age 62 in 2009. He's been arrested multiple times for drug possession, including in 2008 and 2011. His attorney, Nina E. Daly, appeared in court and asked the judge for more time because O'Neal is trying to hire a doctor, who will evaluate his mental competency to stand trial. Redmond was her only child.
