The release date announcement is one of a series of pre-E3 reveals promised each day at 4pm, with yesterday's being PlayStation 4 and VR game Tetris Effect from Rez creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi. We here at Cinelinx are definitely excited to see more of this at E3 2018.

Days Gone, the open-world, post-apocalyptic game where people follow a biker bounty hunter named Deacon St. John, has a release date. Since members of RIP do not harm the zombies they worship, leading hordes into their camps is apparently a great strategy. The games main enemies are zombie-like creatures, Freakers, who are the result of a worldwide pandemic that killed the majority of humans, transformed many others into these monsters. Before E3 can really kick off, Sony made a decision to go ahead and give us a release date for their Zombie-infested PS4 exclusive. These survivors aren't Freakers, but they dress like them and attempt to kill anyone who isn't in their group. Plus, Sony Bend has to contest with the fact that Zombie games are a bit of a exhausted genre. From the possibility of being stranded when your motorcycle breaks down, to avoiding risky animals like bears and angry ravens, to even infected animals like freaker wolves, survival certainly won't be easy for protagonist Deacon St. John.

The E3 season has already given us many new games and more information on upcoming titles.

Days Gone was originally revealed at Sony's E3 2016 press conference in the form of a gameplay demo.

Days Gone will release on February 22nd, 2019. The new Sony Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro are unveiled at the Playstation Theater on September 7, 2016 in NY.
