The Central Council of Jews in Germany said many details in the case remained unclear and called for a thorough investigation.

"I'm shocked and speechless", Rabbi Vernikovsky told the German-Jewish weekly Judische Allgemeine.

Seehofer thanked local authorities for their swift assistance in the investigation and said that the German foreign office and police had begun filing a request for the suspect's extradition "in accordance with worldwide regulations". Her body was found on June 6 next to railroad tracks in Erbenheim, a suburb of Wiesbaden, after a 13-year-old resident of a nearby refugee shelter where Mr. Bashar also resided tipped off police. They said current indications were that the girl had been raped and then strangled to death.

"Preparations have been made to have the suspect transferred as quickly as possible to face trial in Germany".

'The government should beg for forgiveness from Susanna's parents, ' said the top-selling tabloid Bild.

Prosecutors mentioned Thursday that two males - a 20-year-old Iraqi and a 35-year-old Turkish citizen, each of whom lived at houses for asylum-seekers within the metropolis - are suspected of raping and killing the lady on the night she went lacking.

The party has called a protest for Saturday under the banner "That's enough" while counter-demonstrators plan to rally against racism on the same day.

However, officials not only dropped the ball before Susanna's death, they also inexplicably allowed Mr. Bashar as well as his father, mother and four siblings to flee using one-way tickets from Düsseldorf to Turkey on June 2.

He should have been deported after his request for asylum was rejected in December 2016, but he obtained a temporary residence permit pending his appeal.

During that time he became known to police in connection with several violent incidents, including an alleged robbery, possession of a knife and fighting.

In March Afghan asylum seeker Hussein Khavari was jailed for life for the rape and murder of student Maria Ladenburger.

The man had been the girl's boyfriend, according to the Wiesbadener Tagblatt.

"That's how integration usually works - there are hundreds and thousands of examples in Germany".

Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper acknowledged that such cases spark a "revenge reflex" but it warned that "barbarising the law is not the answer to barbaric acts".
