News outlets report 62-year-old Leimome Cheeks was charged with two counts of child endangerment.

Neighbours told the station that Cheeks had recently purchased two German Shepherd puppies and the kennels were meant for them.

Authorities say a Memphis woman was arrested after video showed her transporting two children in pet kennels. Moreover, nobody knows for certain yet whether this was the first time that Cheeks ever asked the kids to stay inside the pet kennels during drives. That video has now gone viral.

The citizen, who does not want to be identified, sent the video to Memphis Police. I only met her like once maybe twice.

"I'm still shocked. I really can't see her doing that".

There were no air-conditioning vents in the back of the vehicle and the children told police they became hot. "She's such a nice lady", a neighbor told WREG-TV.

People who live in this Whitehaven community are shocked by the video.

Local 24 reporter, Annette Peagler went to Cheeks home and tried to get a comment from her family, but no one answered the door.

'Leimome Cheeks was interviewed and admitted to riding from Whitehaven to Collierville with the children in the kennel, ' read a police affidavit cited by Cleveland 19 News.

'Cheeks further advised they also drove downtown, however she checked on the children periodically and later removed them from the kennel and put them in the rear seats of her her vehicle'.

Strangely enough, there is little information available on the relations between Cheeks and the children, aged 7 and 8-years-old. Their grandmother is scheduled to be in court Monday morning at 9 a.m.
