Trump's remarks came after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released its first official data since Trump ended the family separations. This has led to almost 2,000 children being separated from their parents in just six weeks.

Federal prosecutors in California say that the Department of Justice has seen its caseload skyrocket thanks to the new "zero tolerance policy" instituted by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
