The historic summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un resulted in an understanding that Pyongyang would work toward denuclearization.

It was the first time a sitting US president has met with a North Korean leader.

Although Trump claimed credit on Tuesday evening for the breakthrough - saying "a different president" had put relations on a more productive course - Bishop said on Wednesday morning that the sanctions had been an important catalyst in drawing Kim to the table.

Just hours ahead of the crunch talks, Kim left his luxury hotel for a night-time stroll around some of Singapore's main sights, even posing for selfies with his guide, the city-state's foreign minister.

He refused to go into details.

On the eve of the summit, Trump stayed in his hotel but Kim made a decision to take a sightseeing tour of Singapore's hot spots, visiting botanical gardens at Gardens by the Bay and posing for a selfie before making a stop at Singapore's iconic three-tower Marina Bay Sands hotel. -South Korea military exercises and ease crippling sanctions against Pyongyang, suggesting via state media that the American leader had explicitly acceded to two of the nuclear-armed nation's top goals during an "epoch-making" summit a day earlier.

Yet Kimball is anxious by the hard history of negotiations with North Korea, combined with the lack of any timetable or road map for further steps in the latest agreement. "Both leaders with pleasure accepted each other's invitations, knowing positively that it would be another important event for DPRK and United States relations", the agency said.

North Korean state media is reporting US President Donald Trump has been invited to the secretive state after the historic summit with Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

No official announcement has yet to be made about whether North Korea made an agreement concerning nuclear testing or research, as Trump mentioned in his tweet. "It was a awful thing, it was brutal, but a lot of people started to focus on what was going on, including North Korea". "President Trump for the first time in 20 or 30 years of diplomatic negotiations with North Korea began to take this kind of political approach and try to tackle the root cause of this problem, which is high levels of mutual distrust".
