Ahead of tomorrow's World Cup in Russia, FIFA has announced that the U.S., Mexico, and Canada have won a joint bid to host the 2026 World Cup, reports NBC.

The United States will be a host nation for soccer's World Cup in 2026, and Jacksonville could be among the destinations for the world's top players to tune up before the tournament kicks off.

The Fifa World Cup kicks off this weekend in Russian Federation, the undisputed number one sporting event on the planet, bigger than any of its contenders, generating more revenue coverage and eyeballs watching than all the other pretenders.

The 2026 tournament will be the first hosted by multiple countries since the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea. Hasseltine said. "We want to make sure the legacy lives forever and lives long beyond the games' being here".

But which cities and stadiums will host games at the tournament is still being determined.

Meanwhile, the USA hosted the World Cup previously in 1994 while Mexico hosted it in 1970 and 1986.

"There's no bigger sporting event than the World Cup, and Nashville will be ready to host the best soccer players and fans on the planet eight years from now", Mayor David Briley said.

Rosannie Filato, the member of Montreal's executive committee responsible for sports and recreation, said that because there are only three Canadian cities included in the bid, she believes Montreal has a good chance of being selected. But FIFA President Gianni Infantino suggested the split of games could change.

A total of 80 games will be played with 60 planned in the United States and 10 each in Canada and Mexico with the final played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, home to National Football League teams New York Giants and New York Jets.

The North American bid got 17 low-risk and three medium assessments when it comes to organizing costs, government support as well as human rights and labour standards.

Just to add to the complexity, there was a third option for all voters: neither Morocco or United and we would have had to start a new bidding process.

Here's everything you need to know about the game.

Chief among those is US President Donald Trump, whose "America First" approach might score well with his electoral base but may have made the United bid's task harder than it could ever have imagined.
