The Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex will make their first joint appearance without their husbands as they attend Wimbledon ladies' final day.

Williams explained that Markle's come to support her during Wimbledon over the past couple of years and now, her role and position has changed, but that their friendship remains very much the same.

Kensington Palace announced the pair's appearance in a tweet reading: "The Duchess of Cambridge, @Wimbledon Patron, and The Duchess of Sussex will attend the Ladies' Singles Final on Saturday 14th July #Wimbledon". Kate's pregnant sister has been pictured at the tournament several times in the past two weeks but chose to take her brother James Middleton on both occasions.

The Duchess of Sussex is joining the Duchess of Cambridge at the All England club as the USA tennis titan plays Angelique Kerber, from Germany, in the women's final. Recent high-profile events included Prince Louis' birth and christening as well as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding, and there have been a lot of other official engagements along the way in recent months. If Serena wins she'll be the fist mother to win the Grand Slam since Australian Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1980.

"I look forward to it".

Meghan and Williams first met in 2014, at a charity football match.

Despite Markle not coming to William's wedding, Williams didn't miss hers and now Markle is showing up for her friend to cheer her on in her tennis playing comeback.

For her most recent appearance, the stunning mum-to-be nailed the summer look in a gorgeous £680 floral maxi dress by Anna Mason, which she accessorised with summery espadrilles and a J Crew clutch bag.

But if she emerges victorious, she will equal Margaret Court's grand slam singles record as she claims her eighth Wimbledon title.

When Serena Williams takes to centrecourt at Wimbledon in the Women's Singles finals, she'll be sharing the spotlight with two other women.

It was only 10 1/2 months ago that Williams had far more serious concerns.

And it will be no surprise who one of the royals will be cheering on - although she may need to hold back on the celebrations this time. Kerber also won that year's U.S. Open, replacing Williams atop the WTA rankings right afterward.
