As part of the agreement, the London-based company will become an official marketing partner of the PGA, as well as being named "official risk, retirement and health advisor" of the PGA Tour.

The revamp avoids tight scheduling around the season finale at the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup dates as well as provides options around the Olympics, which saw golf return at Rio in 2016. The Players' Championship is also moving from May to mid-March.

That's right, TPC Twin Cities will be hosting a PGA Tour event during the Fourth of July week in Minnesota. Top players then go straight to Tennessee for the FedEx Cup Invitational, a World Golf Championship in Memphis that replaces the event held at Firestone in Ohio.

Still to be determined is whether the PGA Tour will change the structure for the FedEx Cup, and how this new schedule will work in 2020 when the Olympics are in Japan from July 24 to August 9.

This year's Tour Championship ends September 23.

The Aon Risk Reward Challenge competition will take place over an entire season, and will feature the world's top golfers as they tackle some of the most "strategically challenging" holes across both the PGA Tour and LPGA schedules, a release said.

The 101st PGA Championship will be staged May 16-19 at Bethpage Black with the US Open four weeks later at Pebble Beach June 13-16 and the British Open concluding the major schedule July 18-21 at Portrush in Northern Ireland.

The Canadian Open will move from late July to June 6-9 as a lead-in to the US Open the following week. FedEx has assumed title sponsorship of the event now known as the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, which has been staged in Akron, Ohio, since 1999.
