Spanish giants Barcelona has confirmed the signing of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla for a reported fee of €35.9million.

Lenglet, 23, has signed a five-year deal at the Nou Camp after the Spanish champions met his buy-out clause.

But Sevilla held firm, with director of football Caparros and president Jose Castro insisting on numerous occasions they were unwilling to negotiate with Barca, telling them to pay the release clause or forget about Lenglet.

Lenglet is Barca's second signing of the summer after they captured midfielder Arthur Melo.

Lenglet's deal includes a release clause, which stands at €300m (£264m/$350m), and runs until June 30, 2023.

Tropical Storm Chris Reaches Hurricane Strength
The storm, though, is still expected to send swells on the North Carolina coast as well as the mid-Atlantic, the network said. Hurricane Chris is expected to make landfall on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula late on July 5 as a post-tropical depression.

The French worldwide joined Sevilla from Nancy in January 2017 and scored four goals in 52 games last season.

Do you think Lenglet will be a success at Barca if he joins?

The French defender posted impressive performances in La Liga last season and can be added as back up for Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti.

Mina's the favourite to be allowed to go - be that on loan or permanently with a buy-back option - but Paulinho's return to China means Barca no longer need to free up a non-EU spot in the squad.
