The House nevertheless pressed forward with a vote on the bill that would have funded Trump's border wall, offered young undocumented immigrants a path to citizenship and partially addressed the family-separation crisis at the southwest border.

So far more than 2,300 children have been separated from their parents after being arrested by the USA law enforcement agencies after they illegally crossed the border.

Here in Corpus Christi, more than 600 people signed up for the "Families Belong Together" call to action at Cole Park.

Other cities in Canada that held rallies included Toronto, Halifax and Ottawa.

The footage of children, including toddlers, being held in detention centres incited outrage around the world.

"The current crisis will not end until every child that has been separated is reunited with their parents, every family is treated with dignity and due process, and our immigration policies reflect our values", Ms. Lieberman said.

Protests took place across the USA this weekend over Trump administration's hard-line immigration policies. "We are here because we believe America can and should do better", Teigen said.

In cities like Los Angeles and NY, thousands of people marched with some holding placards calling for no more family separations and for the abolishment of the immigration agency ICE.

Kyle Busch takes Chicagoland for fifth NASCAR Cup series win of season
On a crazily hot day in which in-car temperatures reached risky levels, Busch kept his cool for what became a frantic finish. With NASCAR heading to Daytona International Speedway next weekend, Busch and Harvick are tied for the series lead in wins.

Julia Lam, 58, joined the NY protest with two friends and their young children in strollers.

"I missed nine months of his life and it should never have happened", said the woman, who only gave her name as Jocelyn.

Lam is a mother and retired fashion designer who emigrated from Hong Kong in the 1980s.

"I am angry. I'm very sad already with what is going on with our country". "That's been slowing things up, because there's just been a lot of confusion".

The protests come after the US Supreme Court on Tuesday handed Trump a major victory by upholding his ban on travellers from five primarily Muslim nations.

Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly suggested as he did Thursday that the federal government should institute a practice of simply sending border crossers back instead of using immigration judges to process their cases.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency makes arrests and otherwise enforces the administration's immigration crackdown, but an emerging coalition of politicians, activists and pro-immigrant protesters has begun calling for the agency to be dismantled. Next it will be all police. We should not be separating them.

The Post said the request came from the majority of special agents in charge of the Homeland Security Investigative Division, which handles transnational investigations related to counterterrorism, narcotics and human trafficking.
