On Sunday night, Israeli warplanes attacked the al-Nayrab air base near the Syrian city of Aleppo. Previous strikes mostly centered on the southern areas, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, but this was much further north.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that at least six Syrians were killed and that Iranian fighters were also stationed at the base.

SANA then continued, "The source added that the Israeli aggression comes in framework of the repeated desperate attempts to support terrorist groups in Daraa and Quneitra which are collapsing under the strikes of the Syrian Arab Army, which is continuing its military operations against terrorists' positions". The nationalities of the other three people killed are not known, the monitor said.

"The Israeli missiles targeted an Iranian Revolutionary Guard centre, near the Neirab military airport", said Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman.

There was no immediate comment from Israel, which rarely confirms such attacks.
