LeBron James will be donning the number 23 with the Los Angeles Lakers.

James brought Cleveland its first major sports crown since 1964 when the Cavs won the 2016 NBA crown but lost three of four finals showdowns with the Golden State Warriors, falling to 3-6 for his career in the NBA Finals, and decided to make a move in hopes of rebuilding the Lakers into a victor.

And we, happily, all know how that turned out.

"He loves to compete and is an awesome leader who is about winning and making sure that his teammates are successful", the statement continued.

The NBA superstar recently signed a four-year, $154 million contract to play for the Lakers.

"It's a big step closer to returning the Lakers to the postseason and the NBA Finals".

Royal family: Queen and Prince Philip to miss Prince Louis' christening
Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William have a big day ahead as it is the christening of their youngest son, Prince Louis . In keeping with royal tradition, the water used for Louis' christening had been sourced from the River Jordan.

The 15-year National Basketball Association veteran became the first National Basketball Association with 30,000 career points, 8,000 rebounds and 8,000 assists.

The Akron, Ohio, native has been named an NBA All-Star in each of the last 14 seasons, earning First Team All-NBA honors on 12 occasions, including the last 11 consecutive seasons. Last season was his first in which he played in all 82 regular-season games, and the eighth in a row in which his team advanced to the Eastern Conference finals (four in Miami before each of the last four seasons in Cleveland).

James also won Olympic gold medals in 2008 at Beijing and 2012 at London.

But they didn't even get a meeting with star scorer Paul George before the Southern California native re-signed with Oklahoma City, and their efforts to acquire disgruntled two-way superstar Kawhi Leonard from San Antonio haven't borne fruit so far.

It comes after the Lakers were dealt a blow after Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard cooled rumours he could be set for a trade to Los Angeles this summer. Participating Blaze Pizza locations are celebrating James' L.A. arrival with a promotion called the "LABron Free Pizza Party", offering free pizza between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday.
