Nancy Sinatra Sr., first wife of Frank Sinatra, dies at 101

Nancy Sinatra Senior has died aged 101, it's been confirmed.

"My mother passed away peacefully tonight", her daughter, also named Nancy Sinatra, tweeted Friday night.

Nancy Sinatra, the first wife of legendary singer Frank Sinatra, died Friday at the age of 101, her daughter said. Frank who passed away on May 14, 1998, from all accounts, took care of Nancy after their divorce for the remainder of her life. Just days after the singer and Nancy signed their divorce papers, Frank Sinatra married Gardner. Godspeed, Momma. Thank you for everything.

Though her husband would remarry three more times, Nancy, a staunch catholic, never remarried.

That latter accomplishment led Sinatra to leave him after an affair with actress Ava Gardner became public knowledge.

She is credited, under the name Nancy Barbato, on the Internet Movie Database with just two TV and film appearances, in her daughter Nancy's 1975 concert film, Nancy and Lee in Las Vegas, and in 1974 on her friend Dinah Shore's talk show.

The couple had three children - Nancy Junior, who is famed for the song These Boots Were Made For Walkin' and other hits, Frank Junior, who also had a career in music and died in 2016 aged 72, and Tina.

However, in September, 1950, Nancy was granted a legal separation because of his mental cruelty.
