Texas mother arrested for allegedly selling her kids

Esmeralda Garza's alleged attempt to traffick the boy was exposed while cops carried out a search warrant at her home in Corpus Christi, Tx., on Friday.

The suspect is accused of selling a 7-year-old boy to two men.

Further investigation revealed the woman was in the process of selling two other children - a two-year-old girl and a three-year-old girl. The boy was bought by two men, according to jail records.

The mother - Esmeralda Garza, 29, of Corpus Christi - was arrested and charged with sale or purchase of a child, which is a third-degree felony.

They were on a ledge about 440 yards from an underground chamber called Pattaya Beach, where they moved to avoid rising water. The current flooding situation means the boys would have to dive, which rescue experts have said could be extremely risky .

According to KRIS TV, the other two suspects arrested were also booked into the Nueces County Jail.

In a new statement, DPS says they have located the 7-year-old boy that was allegedly sold by his mom. Bond was set at $US100,000 ($135,000). They say all three kids are in Child Protective Services.

A man and woman were arrested as a result of the drug investigation and more charges are expected in that case.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
