Syrian government troops have intensified shelling in the southern province of Quneitra, which borders the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, on Sunday and seized part of the area, a war monitor said.

Syrian regime forces backed by Russian Federation made sweeping advances on Monday against rebels holding out in the country's south, a monitor and regime media said.

Air strikes on Tuesday killed seven civilians in a sensitive southwestern province of Syria bordering the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, a war monitor said.

The deadly strikes late yesterday hit Nawa, the last town under rebel control in the southern province of Daraa, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

A missile strike on Sunday night claimed the lives of at least 22 people at the al-Nayrab air base near the Syrian city of Aleppo.

Recent months have seen daily arson attacks from Gaza with incendiary kites and balloons that have burned thousands of acres of Israeli land; regular riots and clashes along the border, which have resulted in over 130 Palestinians killed by IDF gunfire; and occasional outbursts of mortar and rocket fire by Gaza terrorist groups, which have prompted dozens of Israeli retaliatory airstrikes against Hamas positions.

The regime has in less than a month retaken more than 90 per cent of Daraa province, which borders Jordan and was the cradle of Syria's ill-fated 2011 uprising.

The transfers were part of a ceasefire deal brokered by government ally Russian Federation, and came after more than two weeks of ferocious bombardment of the city.

Rebels loose forward Mafi released on bail
Melbourne Rebels forward Amanaki Mafi was arrested following an altercation with team-mate Lopeti Timani in New Zealand. Foul Play Review Committee Chairman Nigel Hampton said Quirk's red card was upheld after reviewing the incident.

Rebels began handing over their heavy weapons on Saturday and continued to do so on Sunday morning.

But militants holding a hilltop adjacent to Al Hara refused to agree to a handover, said the Observatory.

Regime forces briefly overran the hilltop on Monday but an HTS ambush left 12 regime forces dead and forced them to retreat, Abdel Rahman said.

"Yesterday I spoke with US President Donald Trump", Netanyahu said in remarks at a Cabinet meeting.

Erdogan and Trump stressed that the common roadmap in Manbij would make a significant contribution for the resolution of the crisis in Syria, the office said.

Moscow and Damascus reached a deal with rebels in early July for all of Daraa province, then agreed on terms for the city on Wednesday.

"We now are working on the logistical arrangements", said an Islamist rebel source familiar with the secret negotiations that Turkey was also involved in.
