Arsene Wenger was often accused of being too soft on his star-studded squad but it appears his successor will not be as easy going if his pre-season training regime is anything to go by.

Nonetheless, World Cup finalist Steven Nzonzi who is now with the France squad in Russian Federation has been one of the more probable targets and Emery has decided reports linking the French worldwide to the gunners.

And asked how he will help the midfielder get over his recent hardships, Emery said: "We are here to help every player".

Ozil could play a key role as Emery looks to bring success back to Arsenal after they finished sixth in the Premier League last season.

For us Mesut is a very important player we want to help him to be well, fine with us.

Arsenal are likely to want to tie the Wales global down to a new contract or sell him this summer, rather than risk losing him for nothing in a year's time.

But Emery insists he can help Ozil recover his best form.

"At the moment, I think the squad is complete".

'With all the players I want to give them confidence, to give them a chance every day in their work.

"I want to work with him with a new way and with an ambition to continue with this quality and help with this quality, getting better with the team". "And when the other players arrive, I think the main blocks are prepared for the start".

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be looking to at least break back into the top four next season after they finished sixth and without a trophy last term.

But Emery's first game in charge comes in the more modest surroundings of Meadow Park, home of National League side Boreham Wood, who they face in a pre-season friendly.
