WILMINGTON -For Americans, the Fourth of July is a time for celebration, but for their dogs and other pets, it can be a tough night.

The Schenectady County Independence Day Celebration is at Mabee Farm Historic Site in Rotterdam Junction.

The Animal Services Unit is also warning pet owners that that fireworks lead to a lot of missing pets on Fourth of July. The celebration concludes in a dazzling, 30-minute fireworks display choreographed to patriotic music.

Animal-shelter populations typically swell each year after pyrotechnic displays spook dogs, which also run the risk of being hit by a vehicle or attacked by another animal when they bolt from home. Fireworks are prohibited from being discharged on all publicly owned areas such as parks, streets, cul-de-sacs, public sidewalks or public-right-of-ways or any publicly owned parking lot/parking space or alley. 2 between 10 a.m. -10 p.m. Fireworks can not be sold or given to any person under the age of 18. Tickets are only $10, and gates open at 6:30.

- Country artist Joe Nichols and special guest Trent Tomlinson will perform at the Portneuf Wellness Complex Amphitheater on Tuesday, July 3. The cookout will begin at 1 p.m. Families can play corn hole or enjoy one of the other games set up.

"Exceptional Fireworks Show" at SeaWorld: SeaWorld says that its "jaw-dropping" fireworks display combines pyrotechnics and a triumphant musical score. Live music begins at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m. Pets, tents, sparklers, outdoor cooking and drones are not permitted.
