She was greeted by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who baptised Kate and William's third child, as she headed into St James's Palace for the ceremony.

While the royal christening was stepped in tradition, it also saw some remarkably elegant fashion choices. A royal source said it had been agreed some time ago that the queen would not attend and her absence was not due to any health issues.

The Cambridges stepped out for the first time ever as a family of five, with Kate carrying her serenely sleeping prince, while dad held the hands of both George and Charlotte.

The duchess, who was wearing Alexander McQueen, added, with a smile: "I hope he stays like this".

While it was widely reported that the 36-year-old recycled the look from her daughter's christening at Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding in May, eagle-eyed fans noted subtle differences.

Sanctions to remain until North Korea 'final' denuclearisation: Mike Pompeo
It remains to be seen what the dispute means for a diplomatic effort that Trump has credited with helping to advert a nuclear war. North Korea also accused the United States of trivializing the significance of suspending military exercises with South Korea.

So in 2004 one of Queen Elizabeth's aides was tasked with coming up with a replica to match the original, which required working with a team of expert craftspeople to recreate the garment, hewing as closely as possible to the now-traditional fabrics and design.

Newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan, who looked stylish in an olive-green Ralph Lauren outfit and Stephen Jones hat, were also in attendance, along with Louis' siblings Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 3.

Kate's sister Pippa is expecting her first child.

Following the service, where Prince Louis was flanked by six godparents, the royals made their way to Clarence House where they enjoyed an intimate afternoon tea with guests. For her daughter Charlotte's christening on July 5, 2015, Kate wore a handsome white coat by Alexander McQueen and a white fascinator by Jane Taylor - a similar look by the same designers.
