The dog was 9 years old.
Although her final weeks alive were spent traveling and making television appearances, Zsa Zsa spent over half her life in a puppy mill before she was rescued by a non-profit organisation and adopted by Ms Brainard.
A little more than two weeks after winning the 2018 World's Ugliest Dog contest, Zsa Zsa the English bulldog from Anoka has died. "I'm still in shock". "It's probably going to be the same with her passing".
The dog mom said she named Zsa Zsa after the Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, as the pup enjoyed lounging on the couch "like a attractive model".
Brainard described the dog's death as "devastating" in an interview with Today.com, which first reported the news. Her owner was awarded $1,500 for Zsa Zsa's win. The hound was in good health and had been staying with Brainard's father, who woke up Tuesday to find she had passed, she said. We were all saying our goodbyes and Mareslie went right over and gave her a kiss. "It was sweet. She was waving at her", Brainard shared with TODAY.
Zsa Zsa's body was returned home and the family held a special farewell ceremony.
The dog won the ugliness title at a contest last month in Petaluma, California. "She never really showed much excitement, but yes, she was definitely living it up after she won", her owner said.
