Madrid's Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic is due to go the other way on a season-long loan deal to sugar the pill for Chelsea.

Kepa Arrizabalaga will arrive in London today for a medical before completing a move to Chelsea.

Manager Maurizio Sarri will be hoping to get this one done and dusted before the transfer deadline tomorrow and with the 23-year-old Arrizabalaga close to signing, he will secure one of Europe's top young talents.

In return, the Premier League team received Mateo Kovacic on loan from the Spanish side.

Just seven months ago, Kepa's buyout clause was just 20 million euros and it was he who looked set to join Real Madrid in January.

"Subsequently, Courtois will step on the turf of the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time wearing the Real Madrid CF shirt and will attend the media in the press room".

"It's a very important decision for me, for my career, and also for my personal life", Kepa told Chelsea's website.

Real Madrid have offered Chelsea FC a €35m fee plus €5m in bonuses to sign Thibaut Courtois this summer, according to Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur.

"Athletic thanks the player for his contribution during the time he has remained in our club".

Champions League-winning goalkeeper Keylor Navas is hell-bent on staying at Real Madrid despite the arrival of Thibaut Courtois.

As for Chelsea, he could be a good signing, and with the player also hungry for success, it could be a win-win situation for all three parties.
