Everton had a dramatic end to the window, also wrapping up deals for Brazilian playmaker Bernard and Andre Gomes, the Portuguese midfielder who had also been at Barcelona.

Everton have agreed to sign Barcelona's Colombia centre-back Yerry Mina for an initial 30.25 million euros (RM142.3 million) and have also taken the club's midfielder André Gomes on loan, the Spanish champions said on Thursday.

In the immortal words of one Larry David: preeeetty... preeeeetty... pretty good.

Gomes, who won the European Championships with Portugal in 2016, has found regular first-team football hard to come by at the Nou Camp since joining the Catalans in a big-money move from Valencia in 2016.

I didn't really have those issues when I was early in my career because I didn't have a fixed point in my back. Wednesday, and the final day of practice for the final Major of the year, promises more thunderstorms.

However, Manchester United were put off by the excessive demands made by the player's agents, which ultimately resulted in them pulling the plug on the move.

It was also a good day for Leicester City, who, not only managed to keep hold of Harry Maguire amid reported interest from United, but also brought in the well-regarded young defender Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg, tied Jamie Vardy down to a new deal and signed Croatia Under-21 worldwide Filip Benkovic.

"Every discussion we've had was very important in making me feel his confidence about my game. I believe I will be able to show my best as a player here".

"I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful". The Merseyside club have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign the player in a £28.5 million deal, with the Blaugrana inserting a buyback clause as well.
