Before the official confirmation of his move to Camp Nou, it was widely reported that Vidal was nearing a move to Italian side Inter Milan instead, he opted to play in La Liga for Spanish champions Barcelona.

Barcelona sports chief Eric Abidal has welcomed the arrival of Arturo Vidal. "Very happy, I am very happy to get to Barcelona", said the former Juventus man.

Vidal, who won Serie A with Juventus four times between 2012 and 2015, and the Bundesliga in each of his three seasons at Bayern, has never lifted the European Cup.

"I hope to help the team win a lot of titles here and I am prepared to live up to the expectations". In recent years, Vidal has clashed with Real Madrid a number of times and he marked out where he stands on the capital outfit before facing them in the upcoming season's Clasicos.

Joe Root made 80 in the first innings and looked slightly more comfortable against Ashwin in comparison to his teammates. It's a tempting thought to field two spinners but we will have to take a call on that depending on the team balance.

Bayern was eliminated by Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals in 2017 and in the semifinals in 2018. With the confidence that the people have given me, I want to win it all. I hope to achieve my objectives. "I am here to win all the trophies available and I will give everything on the pitch to achieve this." he said. "I have not been able to win one yet", he said.

Vidal has vowed to bring his all-action approach to the Camp Nou and is looking forward to linking up with this teammates, including Lionel Messi.

"I am excited to play with [Lionel] Messi, [Luis] Suarez, Sergio Busquets", he noted.

"The most important thing is to have Arturo here", Abidal told a news conference.
