The body believed to be that of a pregnant Colorado woman who disappeared has been recovered and a search is continuing for her two young daughters who also vanished, law enforcement officials told KDVR on Thursday.

Her husband, Chris Watts, was arrested late Wednesday night and is being held on suspicion of three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body.

Watts' confession came after the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the FBI joined the local police investigation into their disappearance, Fox News reported.

Information on Watts' attorney was not immediately clear.

Chris Watts said he's hopeful his two girls and his wife are OK. The Frederick Police Department posted on Twitter, "On August 13, 2018, the Frederick Police Department was notified of 3 missing persons". Watts said his wife, who was 15 weeks pregnant, returned home from the airport at about 2 a.m. Monday, roughly three hours before he left for the day.
