Kevin De Bruyne could miss a significant portion of Manchester City's season after suffering suspected knee ligament damage during training on Wednesday.

The Belgium worldwide enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season, scoring eight goals and setting up another 16 as City romped to Premier League success.

It is believe this injury will keep De Bruyne out for two to three months, sidelining him until at least October.

De Bruyne was once again expected to see his stock rise this term as City look to secure back-to-back league titles for the first time in the club's history.

Zinedine Zidane wants to replace Jose Mourinho next year
Mourinho is still under contract at Manchester United and will continue as manager for the foreseeable future. The report claims that the World Cup-winning midfielder is especially keen on managing Manchester United .

Any team in the world would miss a player of De Bruyne's quality.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Premier League champions Manchester City began their 2018/19 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates in a Super Sunday match.

De Bruyne, 27, previously ended up missing over two months with his previous injury, which occurred in a clash with Everton's then goalkeeper Joel Robles.

Now City will be without their Belgian star for a long period, but the emergence of Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden, along with the ever-present David Silva, will mean there is plenty of cover during his absence.
