If you could pick from LeBron James or Betsy DeVos to be the nation's secretary of education and those were your candidates, whom would you pick? His family foundation recently helped fund and open a public school for at-risk children in Akron, Ohio, a move public education advocates applauded.

'The second candidate is Betsy DeVos, a scandal-ridden Republican donor who shows an inexcusable dislike for public education, wants to gut protections for women and minorities, and has advocated for teachers to be armed in schools'. She has authored a petition titled "LeBron James For Secretary of Education!" with its intended recipient being none other than President Donald J. Trump.

A group of LeBron James fans would rather see the National Basketball Association legend go to Washington, D.C., than become a Los Angeles Laker. "I think it's important to understand that LeBron's was a huge gesture and a huge accomplishment in terms of opening up a public school that can serve his community". Charters are publicly funded but privately operated and a favorite of DeVos.

At the time of publication, the petition has been signed more than 15,000 times and has a new goal of 16,000 signatures.

Tribune Media Calls Off $3.9B Buyout By Sinclair
But Tribune announced today "that it has filed a lawsuit in the Delaware Chancery Court against Sinclair for breach of contract". It also said the $60 million purchase price for Tribune's WGN-TV in Chicago "appeared to be significantly below market value".

Some who shared the sentiment have grown exhausted of DeVos, saying she's "taken every opportunity to work against the interests of the children, teachers, and families she has pledged to serve". We certainly deserve better!

This push comes just days after President Trump controversially tweeted Friday suggesting that James isn't smart: "Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon".

Such a shift doesn't seem likely, though, especially given the testy relationship between President Trump and James, who will soon produce a Showtime documentary series.

Now, thousands are petitioning for LeBron James to take over education in the United States. "He did a lot, but taxpayers should know it's their investment, too".
