Mourinho intimidated the way United operated - and the amount of power he wielded - would be shifting following the club's Friday night win over Leicester City.

The France global is rumoured to have informed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward of his desire to leave Old Trafford in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

It lead the Portuguese to vent his feelings after the final whistle at Old Trafford and reiterate his warning for the new season.

"It will be a hard season for everybody, not just for us", the 55-year-old said.

He said: "Of course it makes me proud, it makes me happy to wear this [armband] at a big club like Manchester United".

"That's football management. I think football is changing".

Do you think appointing a director of football is a good idea? "We have to wait until the end of November to understand if we can fight for the title". Or you believe in the pundits and go with what they say.

Considering Jose Mourinho appeared to be engaging in a policy of calculated moroseness during pre-season, his first team sheet of the season was decorated in olive branches. "For me, it was a dream come true".

According to Paramount and Skydance , the movie is a "priority development" and will not be "put on hold". The future of Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth's involvement in the project is apparently in jeopardy.

"Every team is a good team, forget the name, forget the history, forget the shirt".

Manchester United are hoping to solve this summer's transfer woes by appointing a director of Football according to reports.

In an apparent attempt to thaw tensions, Mourinho named the World Cup-winning midfielder as captain for Friday evening's 2-1 win over Leicester City, four days after his return to training.

"We don't really have one", Pogba said on Sky Sports.

United gaffer Jose Mourinho claims he "needed six changes not three" in his side's season opener, with Anthony Martial seeing no game as other options had to take priority.

"Pogba was a monster, we thought maximum 60 minutes but he managed the 80".

Yet Pogba has now stirred the rumour mill over his future once again, with comments to the media that suggest his discontent under Mourinho's leadership will not evaporate any time soon. He's a midfield player that technically is very good.

Mourinho has consistently complained in recent weeks over his lack of backing from the United board and also had a host of injuries and players lacking match sharpness after the World Cup to contend with.
