Today, was invited to take an early look at some of the first devices in the country ahead of the general release on August 24. "My worry is that the Note 9 may meet the same fate". If you want the spiffing 512GB version, that'll be £1099. The Galaxy pattern is really popular right now and they were trying to do a play off of the phone type itself: Samsung Galaxy.

The phablet - a cross between a smartphone and a tablet - would also be able to cool down quickly during game sessions that typically heat up phones a lot. So there's no scope to test out things like battery life or how it handles things like being caught in the rain (It's IP68 rated waterproof) or knocked off a desk.

Firstly, the Note 9 ships with a new and improved S Pen, which comes with Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) baked-in for the first time.

There's some more color flair to the smaller watch, too.

The Galaxy Note 9 will be made available in four colours: blue (with yellow S Pen), lavender, copper and black.

In a thinly veiled stab at major competitor Apple, Samsung Electronics Australia mobile division vice-president Garry McGregor said the new feature was something rival gadgets had yet to match. And yet despite all of that, and despite everything else we've mentioned, there's one annoying way that the new Galaxy Note 9 is worse than last year's Galaxy Note 8. Here's what you need to know.

'It uses intelligence to identify elements of a photo, such as scene and subject, to automatically classify it into one of 20 categories and instantly optimise it based on the category, ' Samsung told us. It is good to see the rear camera with telephoto/wide lenses have even wider apertures and dual OIS. Samsung's stock slid more than 3 per cent in Seoul after Eugene Investment & Securities labelled the Note 9 a "transitional product" that wasn't a game-changer. However, it falls just short of an instabuy, and especially so if you have the Gear S3 or Gear Sport.

However, Manchester United were put off by the excessive demands made by the player's agents, which ultimately resulted in them pulling the plug on the move .

Samsung even boasted that it controlled its Note 9 presentation using the banana-a-like stylus, before announcing that it plans to open up the SDK to developers so functionality can be built into third-party apps.

Not using a Samsung device?

Powering the phone is a hefty 4,000mAh battery that Samsung is marketing with the suitably vague "all day" promise. Oh, and it now charges wirelessly as well. In fact, the Galaxy Note 9 is better in every way than its predecessor.

And the answer depends on what you're looking for. That's pretty vague, so we'll have to test it to get a better idea of what "several days" actually means. This is compatible with all Android phones that are running Android 5.0 and later, and it will also work with any iPhone running iOS 9.

One of the biggest bonus features of all Note phones is the iconic S Pen which, over the last few years, has been radically advanced with a more accurate nib and extra features. Samsung hasn't thrown in any wacky features just for the sake of it.

It is, though, far more stylish than previous incarnations by the South Korean maker, and comes packing some neat new abilities such as Bixby Voice and competitive water resistance, making for a compelling package.
