Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is demanding greater consistency from his players ahead of their clash with Tottenham.

"I don't know exactly what it means but to focus on one competition can only be if you're already out of the competition almost, or if it's late in the season and you see you have a chance to do that or this".

Liverpool sits in first with 12 points after four wins in its first four games of the Premier League season.

Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs were again out of sorts following their 2-1 loss to Watford before the global break, with substitute Erik Lamela's stoppage-time goal giving the scoreline a very flattering look for the hosts.

But while Klopp has been able to bolster his team by the signings of Alisson, Van Dijk and Keita, Pochettino's only possible change from previous year was winger Lucas Moura, who started this game ahead of Son.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League on goal difference after four...

Wind approaches outer banks of North Carolina
Ken Graham, the NHC's director, warned the slow pace of the storm exacerbated its danger even to areas outside its immediate path. A wind gust at the Wilmington airport was clocked at almost 170km/h, the highest since Hurricane Helene in 1958.

Erik Lamela grabbed what turned out to be a consolation goal for Spurs in added time. Klopp has identified weaknesses in goal and in defence and sorted them out by investing wisely in Alisson and Van Dijk.

"Today, if you make a lot of mistakes, then of course in front is Liverpool, one of the best teams in Europe". Their lack of depth is now becoming evident and that's down to the lack of investment in the squad over the past 12 months and beyond.

Once again, Kane was a peripheral figure and, with Dele Alli missing through injury, Tottenham were toothless.

It is true that Spurs are a match for any opponent when they have their best team on the pitch, but how often can that happen in a long season in league and cup? Sure you will be punished for the team and quality they have on the pitch.

It should have been 3-0 after the hour as Mane delayed his pass to Naby Keita and Vorm pushed the resulting shot over.

Jürgen Klopp has poured scorn on Gary Neville's suggestion that Liverpool should overlook the Champions League in favour of focusing on a title challenge by saying that "sitting in an office and talking about football is completely different to doing the job". Tottenham's extra man in midfielder rarely told as Milner commanded central areas in a typically tireless performance, as Jordan Henderson and the still unused Fabinho looked on from the bench. That comes from the manager because he is on them all the time to work hard.
