Blues forward Hazard has emerged as an outside bet after he followed up a strong World Cup of his own with a red-hot start to the season, hitting seven goals and three assists in eight games, but insists that Modric deserves the win.

Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been named Premier League Player of the Month for September, the second time in his career the Belgian has won the prestigious individual prize after previously being recognised for his form in October 2016.

A number of high-profile Chelsea players - including Hazard - failed to produce their best displays during that period, and the Belgium worldwide has revealed that he has regrets over the situation.

Mertens bagged 22 goals under the Italian last season and a whopping 34 in the campaign before that.

Asked on Thursday whether he needed to play in Spain to win the Ballon d'Or, awarded annually to the world's best player, a smiling Hazard responded: "That's why I want to go, maybe". We just ended up in a negative cycle. You know that, but afterwards I've been able to accept that, it's part of his character.

"Mourinho's image of an extremely defensive coach isn't completely right", Hazard said.

In an interview, Swiss Tennis legend Roger Federer had said that the ball boys and ball girls need to be respected by players. The Argentine was the most recent player to clinch a berth, which he did last week in Beijing with a runner-up performance.

According to Hazard, two years ago he sent the Manchester United manager a message apologising for the nature of Mourinho's Chelsea-exit.

"Mourinho's image of an extremely defensive coach isn't completely right", the Belgium global said.

"Then he is a friend of yours - you can do what you want (laughs)".

"I do not regret many things in my career, but that I have not been able to work with Mourinho at Chelsea anymore (is one). I came back totally out of shape". I could say Varane because he won a lot too.

'The problem is he plays to enjoy himself and at times doesn't realise the importance of moving from fun to reaping the rewards.

Many players have spoken of their love for Mourinho.
